I just posted about shoes the other day, and I thought I'd given Sarah Palin about all the words she's worth.
But when I saw this illustration by Barry Blitt, which accompanied Frank Rich's astute column in yesterday's Times about Ms. Palin's overweening ambition, I knew I had to share it. The shoe below is even scarier than the platforms that toppled most of the models on the Prada runway last week.
First lipstick, now high heels; it's too bad my media brethren have to resort to debasing these classic icons of powerful femininity to make their points about Alaska's governor. I'd like to think my media sistren know better, but they're too busy putting themselves in her shoes, or wondering how they'd accessorize a traveling pantsuit.
(Post title from the classic book by Steve Martin.)
