Going Dotty

This photo of me adorns the wall of the Interim Cafe in Santa Monica, formerly the Newsroom.

It's at Wilshire and 6th, a short stroll from the ocean -- not that locals would walk six blocks in LA. Have the soup. Or breakfast.

I cannot remember where the photo was taken. I am fairly certain the dress (which has a tea-length circle skirt, on-seam pockets and a wide self-belt) was purchased, like many of my favorite items, at the Santa Monica Vintage Expo.

While there are some wonderful vintage stores in New York - I've already mentioned Starstruck, and have enjoyed Beacon's Closet and Amarcord for different reasons - this November I'll explore the putative delights of the Pier Show.

Before then I may de-accession some items that I love knowing I own, but never wear. (Anyone want a perfectly tailored pristine white Richard Tyler tuxedo jacket with black details that still had the original Barney's tag in it when I bought it for under $100, but is always just a little too early '90s?)
