It's What They're Wearing in Paris

My mother, my sister and my niece will be celebrating my niece A.'s sixth birthday in Paris next week. Perhaps they should consider a festively black wardrobe for her, as seen in this slideshow by the inimitable Bill Cunningham, provocatively titled "Arachnophilia."

The last time I was in Paris, I bought A. an adorable black-and-white outfit from agnès b. enfant on the Rue du Jour, in a vain (in both senses) bid to make her a mini-me. It was too big for her then, and my guess is, as her tastes still lean toward pink, pink and more pink, that she will never wear it. Tant pis pour moi.

(Sculpture, appropriately titled "Maman," by Louise Bourgeois, currently in the Tuileries.)
