Happy Birthday, Catharine (and Little Bear)

Saturday, March 15th, was my friend Catharine's 60th birthday. She celebrated in style with a surprise party in Marrakech, thrown for her by her husband Paul, and many other friends who traveled halfway around the world to be there.

To my great regret, I couldn't be one of them, but Catharine is one of my favorite people, so I wanted to pay tribute to her as a legendarily shrewd and extremely successful businesswoman, a paragon of style and taste, and a true friend with a huge heart and a colorful history who enjoys adopting children, dogs and adults. She also lives in this historic San Francisco house:


Today is also Little Bear's birthday. A green-and-white stuffed bear imported from Ireland, he lives at the DigiBarn with Galen, Bruce, and many relatives. I am not sure exactly how old he is, but I've known him for at least 20 years. Happy birthday, dear one!
