We all have our irrational hatreds. Mine include peanuts, Andreas Vollenweider and ugly shoes. For some people, as Stanley Fish points out, Hillary Clinton leads the list. Robin Morgan has decided to hate the haters in a partly rational way, but I dislike her strident tone.
I'm proud to be a feminist. A hundred years ago, women in the United States couldn't vote, nor own property in many states. It took a lot of hard work to get us to legal equality, and that work must continue on behalf of women around the world.
I'm just not big on rancor. It poisons from within, so that we become the hate we hope to erase.
No, we can't all just get along. But can't we be "pro" our preferences and beliefs rather than "anti" those of others?
